Antarctica Classic Expedition
An 11-day small-ship Antarctic expedition from Ushuaia with Zodiac landings, wildlife viewing and expert expedition guides.
Why This Trip Stands Out
This is the tour archive’s first true polar expedition. The route sails from Ushuaia across the Drake Passage to the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula, with expedition leaders, Zodiac landings and wildlife-focused days built around conditions on the ice.
- Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands.
- Penguin colonies, seals, glaciers and icebergs.
- Expedition team lectures and naturalist guidance.
- Zodiac excursions and shore landings when conditions allow.
- Optional kayaking and other polar activities on select departures.
Sample Itinerary
Days 1–2 | Ushuaia & Embarkation
Begin at the southern tip of Argentina and board the expedition ship in Ushuaia.
Days 3–4 | Drake Passage
Cross the Drake Passage while the expedition team prepares you for the wildlife, geology and landing procedures ahead.

This is a small-ship expedition format led by an experienced polar expedition team rather than a traditional motorcoach tour.
A Good Match?
Who This Trip Is Best For
Travelers who want a first Antarctica expedition with a straightforward Peninsula itinerary, wildlife, Zodiac outings and expert-led exploration.
Before You Choose It
A Few Things to Know
Weather and ice determine the exact daily itinerary. The Drake Passage can be rough. Zodiac boarding, wet landings and uneven terrain require reasonable mobility. Polar activities must be reserved in advance where offered.
