French Polynesia without the Bora Bora price tag
This nine-day independent trip focuses on Tahiti and Moorea, with international airfare from Los Angeles or San Francisco already included in the starting package. You get five nights on Moorea, a final night on Tahiti and enough unstructured time to actually enjoy the lagoon instead of changing islands every couple of days.
I like this as a more approachable way to experience French Polynesia. Moorea still gives you the dramatic mountains, turquoise water and tropical-resort feel people picture when they think of Tahiti, while keeping the overall package well below many Bora Bora combinations.
